Embodying the Female Pelvis:
Practices, Potions, Art

With Jamie Schrack & Dr. Chanti Tacoronte-Perez

What is your relationship with your pelvis and vulva? Regardless of where that relationship is currently, this course is a nurturing journey crafted to support you in cultivating a deeper connection with your body. "Embodying the Female Pelvis" invites you to honor the depth of wisdom and rich knowledge that reside within your pelvis.

Each session will begin with a grounding orientation and mythological imagery. It will be followed by a movement practice that embraces the energy of the pelvis. This four-week course will invite you to practice and track the wisdom of your pelvis.

Week 1: Mapping & Massage
In this first week, we will learn a simple technique for mapping the pelvic area through abdominal massage, anatomical coloring, and vulva mapping. Participants will also have the chance to create their own personalized massage oil blend, which they can use throughout the course.

Week 2: Steam & Tea Ritual
Vaginal, pelvic, or yoni steaming is an ancient ritual that women from various cultures have used for restorative, supportive, and medicinal purposes. Traditionally, women were knowledgeable about how to prepare and perform the steaming, as well as the best times to engage in the practice. While this knowledge hasn't been entirely lost, it is seldom practiced for personal pelvic care.

We will learn the techniques of steaming, understand its benefits, and embrace the practice together. Additionally, we will incorporate a tea ritual to listen to and honor the wisdom of the pelvis.

Week 3: Anasyrma: Vulva Visions
Lithuanian-born archaeomythologist Marija Gimbutas* suggested that “The display of the female genitals was a gesture of power, intended to avert death, restore life, and renew the world.” In this third week, we will embrace this power by observing our own vulvic landscape, witnessing ourselves, and creatively translating what we see from the privacy of our homes.

Week 4: Stories for Continued Pelvic Wellness
In our final week together, we will explore various mythologies and ancient sacred imagery, drawing upon their wisdom to envision and start transcribing our own pelvic mythology. To conclude our time together, we will imagine a future in which we maintain a strong connection to our pelvic wisdom and power.
